Cast aluminum on aluminum base, 2025
96 h x 42 w x 45 d inches

This project is a temporary public art piece, made for the sculpture garden at KitePharma, in collaboration with the City of Santa Monica, and curated by Carl Berg.

STACKED is a sculpture in a new medium for me. I cut up and repurposed polystyrene packing materials, and sand cast them into aluminum at Alphacast Foundry in Los Angeles.
The sculpture is made of 4 abstracted forms: a Galapagos Tortoise, an inverted Red Wolf/Dog hybrid, a horse fragment based on the last wild horses in the Russian steppes, and a human figure that surmounts them, dominating all the endangered species of the planet. I hope that visitors will notice the recycling logos and other brand markings on the sculpture and understand the messaging about the ecological threats of using polystyrene and other petroleum derived products.
